King Charles Secretly Makes Succession Plans with Prince William after Doctors Diagnosis
King Charles was recently diagnosed with cancer, and reports suggest that his succession plan is being kept hidden from his second child, Prince Harry.
It is believed that King Charles III is working on his succession plan, which may involve his son, Prince William. However, this plan is reportedly being kept secret from Prince Harry. According to a report, the King’s cancer diagnosis has accelerated the planning process. The report referenced an interview with royal expert and author Tom Quinn, who stated that Prince William is central to the succession planning, but no one trusts Harry with this privileged information.
Quinn explained that the King’s cancer diagnosis may be more serious than previously thought. While officials initially believed Charles would remain healthy into his mid-80s, his health issues have led to the start of succession planning sooner than expected. “Charles knows that, as the future King, William is at the heart of the current planning,” Quinn said. “No one trusts Harry to be part of it because if he feels insulted or denied what he believes he deserves, he will run directly to the media.”
These comments come amidst claims that Prince Harry may offer support to the royal family following his father’s diagnosis. The Duke of Sussex has confirmed that he has several UK trips planned in the near future, following a brief visit to his father recently.
Prince Harry revealed that he decided to write his memoir, Spare, during his trip to England for his grandfather’s funeral in April 2021. According to the New York Times, Harry realized at that time that neither his father nor his brother fully understood the reasons for his and Meghan’s move to California. His intention with the book was to address both his family and the world. In Spare, Harry delves into his complicated relationship with Prince William and also criticizes his father. Additionally, Harry and Meghan have been critical of the royal family in their Netflix docuseries.
The youngest son of King Charles III made headlines in 2020 when he and Meghan left England and eventually settled in California.
According to royal observers, King Charles III has so far managed his reign admirably. His ascent to the throne in September 2022, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was not an easy task. The Queen had celebrated an extraordinary 70 years on the throne and was immensely popular. Charles, who had lived in her shadow for 50 years, was a more controversial figure—respected for his long-standing commitment to environmental causes but criticized for his perceived interference in politics and his turbulent private life.
Since becoming King, Charles has adhered to tradition. He has continued the weekly audience with the Prime Minister, delivered a pre-recorded Christmas message, and embraced the grandeur of the coronation and numerous public engagements, a hallmark of his late mother. However, in one area, this aging monarch, now 75, has broken new ground: royal communication. Charles has modernized royal communications, even though transparency remains somewhat limited.
The latest example of this modernization came with the announcement of his cancer diagnosis on February 6th. Buckingham Palace revealed that the King had a form of cancer but did not specify the type. It was noted, however, that it was not prostate cancer, despite the fact that Charles had undergone treatment aimed at correcting an enlarged prostate around the time of his diagnosis.
