Big Brother

Celebrity Big Brother is confirmed to return in 2025 as ITV addresses fans fuming, ‘That’s all we need!’

Big Brother fans have voiced their desires for changes to the show as ITV released a statement regarding its future.

Before the live final of the current series, the broadcaster confirmed that a new series will be back in the new year.

This will be the third series on the channel, after it found a new home on ITV in 2023, over two decades after the original series aired on Channel 4.

Applications for potential housemates are already open, with those who think they’re up for the challenge of the original social experiment encouraged to apply online.

An official statement from ITV’s X account announced: “It’s official! Big Brother will return for a third series on ITV2 and ITVX… following Series 2 of the star-studded edition, Celebrity Big Brother on ITV1 and ITVX next year!”

The news has sparked a flurry of responses from fans on social media, many of which share a common theme.

A large number believe that the current six-week run of the series is too short, particularly given the number of housemates involved in the show, reports the Mirror.

They also have several other requests, including the reintroduction of a consistent 24/7 live stream.

One fan responded to the announcement by saying: “12 housemates, 8 weeks. That’s all we need. It’s not that hard to mess up, yet you seem to be messing it up perfectly”.

Another viewer suggested: “8 Week Series MINIMUM 24/7 Live Feed You want the ‘original social experiment’ and for the past two years have treated it with disdain.”

One viewer expressed their belief that extending the show’s duration could boost its viewership, stating: “Please 8 weeks 6 isn’t long enough and interviews on main show and then different host for BBLL and 24/7 live feed and viewing numbers will go UP.”

Another fan urged ITV to pay more homage to the series’ history, including its time on Channels 4 and 5.

They suggested: “Bring back at LEAST 8 weeks per series, start it in August and run it til I’m a celeb starts. And more panellist’s on Late and Live from Channel 4 and Channel 5 big brother.

Remember the history of the show, the reason we all love it.”

Big Brother concludes tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and IYVX and returns in 2025
