Big Brother 26 host Julie Chen Moonves believes that Makensy Manbeck made the right decision during her week 11 HOH reign, when she decided to break up the duo of Kimo Apaka and Rubina Bernabe, by evicting Kimo, rather than try to eliminate Chelsie Baham. Makensy and Chelsie have been working closely together for the past few weeks of Big Brother 26, winning competitions and strategizing. Chelsie has been able to convince Makensy to make moves that benefited Chelsie’s game more than her own, including convincing her to target her ally, Leah Peters, which led to Leah’s eviction.
In an interview with EW, Julie was asked if Makensy made a “fatal error as HOH by not taking out her biggest competition to win in Chelsie,” but rather sending Kimo to the jury house. She explained why she didn’t think that Makensy’s decision was a mistake. Julie stated, “No. It was too early to target Chelsie.“

When Makensy won the Power of Veto during her own HOH reign, she had an opportunity to save either Kimo or Rubina, and nominate Chelsie instead. She’s already won eight competitions, so it would have been very easy for her to beat Kimo, Rubina, and Cam in the upcoming competitions. However, Makensy is ineligible to play in the next HOH competition, which makes her vulnerable. Julie’s right that Makensy needs Chelsie to make it further in the game because Chelsie is also a competition beast.

Julie Is Right About Makensy’s Decision
At first glance, it seemed like an obviously good game move for Makensy to send Chelsie to the jury house. However, Julie is right that it was too soon for Makensy to make the move. She’s also correct that Makensy doesn’t see everything that the live feeders and viewers see, so she doesn’t know exactly what Chelsie is thinking. Makensy is doing the best she can with the information she has, and her decisions make sense when viewed through that lens.
Although it’s hard to know if Chelsie will stay loyal to Makensy, she had the opportunity to target her during the double eviction, but she didn’t. Instead, she stuck to Makensy’s original plan for the week to evict Angela Murray, after she convinced her to switch her target to Leah. This is a good sign that Chelsie might stay true to Makensy in the end. However, both Makensy and Chelsie have a much better chance of winning against Rubina or Cam. Whatever happens, Julie is right that Makensy’s decision to keep Chelsie was a good one for now.
