ROYALS IN TEARS! Catherine Announced Tragic News To George Charlotte Louis Before Official Notice
It was already a difficult week for the children, with sensitive little Prince Louie comforting his mother in her grief over Queen Elizabeth. Meanwhile, his older siblings attended their first-ever funeral with their parents. A little curiosity over such a massive affair is natural, and it’s somewhat comforting to know the royal children were given the space to ask questions.
Katherine didn’t travel to Balmoral to be there for the children. Instead, she gently told Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louie about Elizabeth’s passing at Windsor prior to the official announcement. She wanted them to hear about the tragic news directly from her to ease the blow. The Princess used her words carefully and told them that Elizabeth is in heaven with Prince Philip. There were lots of tears and hugs, and naturally, the children were upset.
Just one day prior, the kids looked adorable in their school uniforms as they attended an introductory day before actually hitting the books. Teacher Eleni met their father when he was meeting with the public after the Queen’s death on September 8, 2022.
Prince William spoke about his three kids, saying they were trying to keep some sense of continuity for them at school and maintain as much normalcy as possible. When the Prince and Princess of Wales greeted staff members who worked on Queen Elizabeth’s committal service at Windsor Guildhall to thank them in person, their three kids were apparently quite beady-eyed and curious about the security drones flying all over the grounds.
“When we’ve been doing the school run, we’ve been able to see the preparations going up—we’ve seen it growing,” Catherine said, going on to praise the team for the highly organized affair. “It must have been quite a mission. Having gone backwards and forwards last week, we could see it slowly growing. It seemed so well organized.”
This week, during a visit to L’Arche, a South London community that supports people with learning disabilities, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, was asked about the moment her two children, Lady Louise and James, Earl of Wessex, stood vigil beside the coffin of their late grandmother, Elizabeth II, following her death in September 2022.
The heartfelt moment saw Louise and James join their older cousins—including Prince William, Zara Tindall, Peter Phillips, and Prince Harry—in a touching tribute to their grandmother. As Sophie recounted the experience, she became visibly emotional, pausing to collect herself before speaking.
Unflappable, she thought for a moment before answering. “It was,” she said, “incredibly moving,” leaving her just so proud of them—all of the cousins—for the way they listened to instructions.
Sophie further shared, “I suppose there was a part of me initially that thought, ‘Would it be appropriate for James to do it?’ because he was younger than the others. But he was really keen to do it, and I think it was really important for him to do it—and obviously for Louise as well. But they did it so well, each and every one of them. I was slightly holding my breath, wanting them to feel that they’d done it well more than anything else. I wasn’t worried about anything happening; it was more that I wanted them to feel they’d done their bit for their grandmother. It was incredibly moving and lovely to see her surrounded by them.”
According to the outlet, Sophie then paused, put her hands on her heart, and seemed to blink to stop tears from falling before saying, “I don’t think I can talk about it anymore.”
The beloved great-grandmother did one sweet thing that proved just how much she loved her great-grandchildren, including Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louie.
The Princess of Wales revealed, “She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay, and that just shows, I think, her love for her family.”
Another sweet moment was caught on footage a few years back when Princess Charlotte was seen copying the moves of the late Queen. Appearing on the balcony, a young Charlotte watched her great-grandmother wave to the public before copying this gesture herself, causing her mom to giggle.
Another sweet moment was when Prince Louie was seen speaking to Her Majesty on the balcony during the 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The young Prince, known for his cheeky antics, was caught chatting with the late Queen before pulling faces at the planes flying past and covering his ears as the jets flew overhead.
